Dr. George Carlo is not just anyone, he headed a $28.5 million dollar study funded by the cell phone industry. From 1993 to 1999, he was point man for the burgeoning industry -- and they thought they could count on him to deliver the results they wanted because he more or less signed off on the safety of breast implants.

Now, at the risk of pinching some nerves, it has recently come to my attention that at least some research contracts contain a very questionable clause giving the entity commissioning the work the right to refuse payment if the work does not produce a favorable conclusion.
