Dear Subscribers,

There were quite a few responses to my post on reincarnation, thank you! So far, no one has implied lunacy, incredible and encouraging.

One of my comments on the Cathars was rhetorical. Though there were at least half a million martyrs, there were, of course, survivors and descendents. They go by different names, often Albigensians, and one of my favorite conductors, Richard Bonynge, claims to be a descendent of followers of this faith, believed to be one of the earliest of the Christian faiths and quite consistent with the original teachings, which of course included a belief in reincarnation.

Truly, interesting as the Cathars were and still are, this is not the direction I would like to take the issue of reincarnation. There are countless ways to approach this subject, but when we speak of "incarnation", we are referring to a descent of spirit into third dimensional reality. It must be obvious that the level on which this decision is made is considerably higher than the level our minds are currently focused when we attempt to understand this process.

In the technique that Isabel Hickey demonstrated, the person undergoing the exploration has a sense of being able to move upwards or downwards and what was fascinating to me was the language used on the different levels. For example, the fourth dimensional self might be described as an idealized version of the third dimensional self. By this, I mean that if we could get rid of all our imperfections and some of our ignorance, we would be almost fourth dimensional. In contrast to the third dimension, the fourth dimension is entirely intuitive and does not rely at all on the mind. So, the issue of intelligence is moot. It is not needed in the fourth dimension. When dialoguing with fourth dimensional awareness, the first impression is one of grace. The attitude, manner of expression, content of conversation, and sense of being understood are blissful. There is no feeling of criticism or blame or guilt, just a very soft and sympathetic recognition of the difficulties encountered in this dimension and sometimes a recognition of the magnitude of suffering. If one wants to emulate the fourth dimensional self, it stands to reason that perfecting our expression is the best strategy.

One could speculate that the fourth dimension is a kind of space, like the third dimension, but it lacks density so it could be interpreted as a sort of heaven. If so, we would also have to ask what heaven is and how do we get there. Obviously, there are going to lots of answers, none of which can be construed as absolute truth since how can anyone prove to a third dimensional being what is real about the fourth dimension? It can only happen intuitively since this is the dimension in which intuition has extremely broad influence.

We also then have to ask if we manage to ascend to the fourth dimension, what happens to our imperfections? The Buddhist answer is that they remain here, waiting for our reincarnation. It's risky when we try to translate words that have very specific meanings in the original language, but one concept is that our third dimensional selves are comprised of physical, emotional, and mental properties whose seeds are left in this dimension for reuse in the next lifetime. In a sense, these belong to the one who used them while living in this dimension and they are perfected to whatever extent the user mastered his expression or emanation in the third dimension. In very unusual circumstances, these remnants can be borrowed by someone seeking a more perfect expression than he or she is personally able to create. I think this concept is unique to Buddhism because the idea of entering Nirvana suggests that there will be no further descent into the third dimension so the nirmanakayas can be borrowed by a qualified being. Obviously, there would not be very many such "bodies" left behind since escaping the wheel of rebirth is no easy task. However, when this happens, there are recognizable features of the ascended being as well as the new user. This is extremely rare. Normally, we use our own substance and this was surely the case of the body in the video that I suggested you watch.

Because we more or less pick up where we left off in the previous incarnation, it matters tremendously how each challenge is resolved because perfecting the vehicle we use to incarnate means that there is ongoing improvement. Leaving a trauma or incomplete situation adds complications to the next incarnation. For similar reasons, it matters how we live, how we treat our friends and family, and how we manage our physical and psychological challenges. It also matters how we die. If possible, it would be better for the consciousness to escape before the body experiences something horrific. I can absolutely assure you that not one person with whom I have worked is free of residues from previous incarnations. Deliberate cruelty, mutilation of self or others, violent deaths, are all horrific and should be absolutely forbidden by anyone and everyone of faith. We have no right to damage another and we should also be careful what we do to ourselves.

I have the feeling that despite all the preparation for presenting these ideas, I am still going too fast for some.

However, I want to push for a stretch of the imagination to see how many are following. At the level of the fourth dimension, there is no time. Therefore, all your incarnations can appear to be concurrent or simultaneous. From the higher level, it seems more or less that way, but if you touch base with the fourth dimension, you see projections, let's call them emanations, into the third dimension and you realize, intuitively, that you can revisit any chapter of your incarnational history you want. You have a feeling of descent along a particular beam, the emanation, and then the details of that lifetime become knowable. From my experience, nothing is forgotten.

What is fascinating is that one has all the habits as well as the limitations of that time. For instance, this is a very, very simple example, one person came down into a European incarnation in which she was illiterate. There was a date above the doorway of the house where she lived but she was not able to read it, but she could copy it.

Now, let me contrast this with a totally different example. In that instance, the person was highly educated in the life being reviewed so I proposed that she choose a book and open it. The book happened to be in German and she found she could read it effortlessly even though she only knew two or three words in German in this life. She could not however turn the pages without a prompt and this is why a facilitator is necessary. I could ask her to turn the pages and she could go on and on reading, but this point is now clear. There is no volition in the altered state so the facilitator has to prompt.

It now goes without saying that if someone descends into an Atlantean lifetime, he or she will know the language and the customs of that time. This is so detailed that if one began as a child playing games, the child would be able to explain all the rules of the game as well as who the playmates are and his or her relationship to them in this life. If there are other people in the scenes, they will invariably be easily recognized and the concept of karmic groups and long-term relationships is then quick to form. The facilitator must be very tuned in so as to make suggestions that are relevant to the issues the individual is trying to work out in this lifetime.

The fourth dimension is not the highest level at all; but the highest I have ever been able to facilitate for others was the seventh. At this level, the master plan for all incarnations is completely mapped out down to the smallest details and the awareness that emanates from that level has a feeling of intense purposefulness, clarity, and even discipline. The quality of conversation is beyond exquisite but there is a sense that to know more, one must earn the right to access the knowledge that is part of the larger picture.

Given what I have seen, I am certain that there are many levels beyond the seventh because we are spirit moving into density and with the density we experience now, our ability to process impressions is limited by our density.

Now I will be very, very personal and hope not to overstep limits I have imposed upon myself for countless years, actually lifetimes.

There are many theories about spirit and matter. I personally believe that most of them are misleading to the extent that we use dualistic models of the mind to define what something is or isn't. For instance, spirit is good so matter must be bad. In my experience, there is absolutely nothing to justify this conclusion. In fact, I would rather reword everything and say that spirit is intentional and therefore has motivation and purpose whereas matter is receptive. In its original state, it was pure and unconditioned. Whatever we now find in the space we call matter is formed out of reactions to spirit. Matter in its original state was therefore innocent and the original sin, if we are looking for what went wrong, was failure to respond adequately to spirit. What I am saying is that the original sin had nothing to do eating apples or quince or any other forbidden fruit. It also had nothing to do with removing a fig leaf. It was the failure to express the Idea that was supposed to take form in the third dimension.

The first crisis for every incarnate soul is the fear of failure to execute the destiny for which one incarnated. The rest is just reverberations of waves created by dissonance. Think of a musician trying to play a very difficult musical instrument and having the desired sound absolutely clear in his mind but what comes out is disappointing. Actually, we should not be surprised at all that this happens so we should let up on ourselves and not be so self-critical, but we have a concept of what the music should sound like and we berate ourselves for failing. However, if we set reasonable goals and practice, we may perfect our musicianship and become masters of our instruments. Our incarnations are similar.

Before signing off for today, I would like to add a sort of footnote. This is that if we regard spirit as radiatory and matter as magnetic, we will better appreciate what holds the third dimension in place. The task of matter is not merely to manifest the Intent of Spirit but to calibrate the flow. This is part of the Divine Partnership but the particulars of the interaction require perfecting so a lot of what we perceive as chaos or commotion or sometimes worse is due to the difficulty of processing a bombardment of impressions and maintaining order since in the third dimension, every manifestation is ultimately a sequence in Time. I can elaborate on this on another occasion but the concept of good and evil does not apply to Spirit and Matter so much as to psychological dynamics within the incarnate individual, the most serious evil being the refusal to obey Spirit.

This is part of the reason for bringing up the story of the Cathars since they were completely dedicated to purity and perfection and their destruction was a great loss for Western civilization and all those elsewhere in the world who have suffered because of the violence of our culture.

Many blessings,

Ingrid
